72,000 Ladybugs Inside Mall, A group of children at a Minnesota elementary school participated in Earth Day ladybug release. As many as 72,000 ladybugs were released inside the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota.

The bugs were released to protect plants and flowers displayed in the mall. The children were third graders from Visitation School and they got to see, hold, and assist in the ladybug release...REPORTED

The Mall of America's Senior Manager of Environmental Services referred the release of ladybugs as biological defense system. KARE 11 News reported that the ladybugs provide a save and eco friendly way to deter pests.

Aphids cause irreparable damage to plants by feeding them. The ladybugs eat the aphids without causing any damage to plants by any means. There are more than 30,000 plants displayed in the Mall of America and over 400 trees in one of the largest malls in the US.

MallOfAmerica. com said more than 40 million visitors are recorded every year. Ladybugs are found in various colors like yellow, orange and common bright red. Also, they have blackheads, antennae and there are spots in their wings.

Ladybugs are natural eaters of aphids and other tiny insects found in gardens. Ladybugs do consume plant material but they love eating insects and their eggs.
