Friends of alleged Boston bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev, suspect him in triple murder

Friends of alleged Boston bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev, suspect him in triple murder, Former friends of the deceased Boston Marathon bombing suspect, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, now believe he may have been involved in a 2011 triple homicide, according to an April 21, 2013 BuzzFeed report.

Tsarnaev, who was once a competitive boxer, at one time introduced one of those murdered, Brendan Mess, as his best friend to the owner of a gym. This, despite claiming he had no American friends because he did not understand them, reports the New York Daily News.

In Sept. 2011, Mess and two other men were found murdered in his Waltham, Mass. apartment. Each had been stabbed to death in the neck and their bodies were covered in marijuana, the Daily News reports.

Despite professing to be close to Mess, Tsarnaev did not attend his funeral, which surprised his social group, BuzzFeed reports.

A friend named Ray, who spoke to BuzzFeed on the condition that only his first name would be used, said that at the time of the murders, no one who knew Tsarnaev would have thought he was involved, but after the bombings, he noted that sentiment had changed.

Ray spoke about Tsarnaev’s absence at Mess’ funeral saying, “…he wasn’t around at all… And he was really close with Brendan. That’s why it’s so weird when he said ‘I don’t have any American friends.’”

He added that after the murders of Mess, Raphael Teken, and Erick Weissman, he lost touch with Tsarnaev.

Some who claim to be the suspected bomber’s former friends have taken to social media expressing their beliefs about Tsarnaev and the 2011 killings, reports BuzzFeed.

One wrote, “This is so crazy. Lots of us knew the older suspect. UNREAL AND TERRIBLE,” to which another replied, “I just put together what this meant and I’m buggin the f*** out.”

The marathon bombing took place April 15 near the race’s finish line, killing three and injuring over 170 others.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev died Thursday night when he and his brother, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, also suspected in the bombing, engaged in a standoff with law enforcement.

Prior to the shootout with police, authorities say the brothers carjacked a Mercedes SUV and told the driver they were the Marathon bombers.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev fled the shootout and was discovered Friday night in a boat that was in the backyard of a Watertown, Mass. family’s home. He reportedly had a number of serious injuries when recovered and was immediately transported to a local hospital where he now remains and is said to be communicating with authorities.
