'You Deserve Rape' sign draws firestorm at Arizona campus, A "You Deserve Rape" sign is drawing a firestorm of criticism from students and faculty at the University of Arizona. Dean Saxton is known for making controversial statements and managed to infuriate many with his controversial sign during sexual assault awareness month. Huffington Post reports April 25 that Saxton also wore a shirt that read "Virgin Pride."
A video posted on YouTube that Saxton also had signs that read, "Rapists Deserve The Death Penalty," "Frat Boys Are The Rapists" and "Sorority Girls Are Whores."
Saxton often tweets insults at Muslims and feminists. He was on the Arizona campus giving a sermon about how women who dress a certain way "deserve rape" and that their fathers hate them for dressing in that manner.
Here's what the Dean of Students Office had to say after receiving a load of hostile emails following Saxton's message:
"We find it to be vulgar and vile," Kendall Washington White, interim dean of students said. "However, it is protected speech. He has yet to, at this point, violate the student code of conduct."
Whatever message Dean Saxton is spreading, he's not gaining any fans by flaunting such a repulsive sign. Far more disagree with him than not.
