Reese Witherspoon attends screening after arrest, The show must go on, and actress Reese Witherspoon appeared at a screening of the movie "Mud" Sunday after her release Friday from an Atlanta jail on a charge of disorderly conduct. (See images in the slideshow above.)

Witherspoon is accused of ignoring a police officer's order that she "sit on her butt and be quiet” while her husband, Jim Troth, was being arrested for driving under the influence, according to Variety.

"I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said," BBC News quoted her as saying on Sunday. "It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse."

Witherspoon, 37, did not comment on the arrest at the movie screening, according to reports.

The actress has been a popular figure in Hollywood since the release of her first movie, “The Man in the Moon,” in 1991when she was 15 years old.

Her role as Dani Trant earned a Young Artists Awards nomination for Best Young Actress Starring in a Motion Picture.

The award went to Thora Birch for “Paradise.”

Movie fans at IMDb.com rate her performance as June Carter Cash in “Walk the Line” as her best movie role.
