Springfield weather: The Week Ahead, Below normal temperatures and dry air will remain in place through the Pioneer Valley as we start the new work week. After a very chilly Sunday night, with temperatures expected to dip into the 20s most everywhere, Monday morning will be a frosty start for many. Despite a good amount of sunshine Monday it will remain on the cooler side of normal. Average highs in greater Springfield are about 61 degrees with the average lows around 40.
The high pressure system that gave us a sunny day on Sunday will move offshore Monday. Meanwhile, low pressure will be developing off the South Carolina coast and begin to push northeastward. This will cause an increase in clouds Monday night with the slight chance of a few showers early Tuesday. The shower activity is expected to generally stay east of greater Springfield. Not as cold Monday night but still a cooler than average night that will be followed by another cool day on Tuesday.

The coastal low departs by early Wednesday, followed by a cold front approaching during the day. The front is expected to move through these parts Wednesday night. This may spark a few showers during the late afternoon and at night. The front will do nothing in the way of cooling down temperatures but will allow for drier air to follow in its wake, giving us a return to sunnier skies and a return to near normal temperatures Thursday and Friday. The pleasant weather late week will be courtesy of high pressure that will crest over the area.
