Boy, 15, arrested for double shooting after SWAT standoff in DeKalb County, A 15-year-old allegedly shot two people before he was arrested in a SWAT standoff Monday night in DeKalb County.
\So far, police have not released a motive for the double shooting or the connection between the suspect and the victims. They have also not identified the victims or released their conditions.
Witnesses told police there was a fight at the Austin Oak Apartments at 4371 Glenwood Road in Decatur, DeKalb County police spokeswoman Ms. Mekka Parish said.
“The victims were involved in this altercation with each other,” Ms. Parish said. “At some point a suspect pulled out a weapon and fired, striking both the victims and fled the location.”
Officers were canvassing the area when they noticed the 15-year-old who matched the description of the suspect in the shooting and attempted to speak with him, Ms. Parish said.
The teen ran into a nearby abandoned home and refused to surrender, Ms. Parish said. Officials called in the SWAT team and they were later able to remove the juvenile from the home, she said.
The teen, whose names has not been released because of his age, faces charges that include criminal trespass, obstruction and affray, Ms. Parish said. Additional charges for the shooting are pending, she said.
